And my perfect record of predicting Presidential Elections has been broken! This is the first time I’ve been wrong since 1988! And on top of that, every professional astrologer I know predicted Hillary, too. But when I went back over my notes, I had a major “hindsight is 20/20” moment.
On Election Day, a simple 20 point astrology list can usually predict the winner. It’s always tempting to over-complicate matters, but the simple checklist approach works quite well, be it the Super Bowl, Kentucky Derby, or any other kind of “contest.”
On November 8, 2016, Donald Trump got at least 17 out of 20 in the plus column. Hillary only got 9. I think many well-known astrologers saw this… it just seemed so improbably, they started trying to figure out why it wouldn’t happen, rather than looking at why it WOULD happen. I know that’s what I did!
Astrologers are a pretty liberal bunch, generally, and I think the professional consensus was this Election would be “Revolutionary” and “Unprecedented”, because of the planetary influences. It seems we wanted to believe the “big change” would mean the First Female President of the United States, not a treacherous swing back towards White, Patriarchal Dominance.
On a more spiritual note, it seems that there is some “larger purpose” behind all of this. Certainly, public awareness has been awakened and so has a call to action.
So, as far as my prediction goes, I stand corrected. But the next chapter will belong to Saturn in Sagittarius. Saturn will be a challenging influence to Trump’s Gemini Sun and Sagittarius Moon this month, and will present a true litmus test to his legitimacy and his potential capacity to perform his duties. Saturn’s influence will dominate Trump’s chart, presenting tests and challenges well into 2017.
Accountability is a key Saturnian concept. Fire and Air planets favor Trump, nevertheless, and he may get a “hall pass” from some of Saturn’s harsher lessons. He will have his work cut out for him, for sure.
Mars in Aquarius trines Jupiter in Libra during the first week of December, bringing some real energy and enthusiasm into the picture! If you want to make a splash socially, get attention for a new project, ask for a raise, or take a quick trip to Vegas, do it now!
We will also have a solid few weeks of Mercury Retrograde in Capricorn this December. Mercury Retrograde always presents challenges with communication, new ventures, travel, and technology, but can be particularly trying during the Holidays.
So, take a “chill pill” now, and expect things to be a little more tangled up than usual! The Capricorn Vibe has to do with Career, Responsibilities, and Parenting, which could prove to be major Mercury Retrograde themes from some of us. And Mercury Retro lines up with Pluto in mid-December, which could bring up major controversy and power struggles.
If you are a Capricorn or have Capricorn prominent in your chart it may have more impact on you. It is best to hold off on big decisions, purchases, or contracts during December if possible, which will be nearly impossible with gift-giving season at its height!
Troubleshoot this by holding on to your receipts! And don’t buy anything that can’t be returned. Mercury Retrograde is not particularly favorable for starting new things. Of course, Life sometimes has a different schedule in mind, so if you must forge ahead with new plans, a careful and systematic approach will help.
Here is the Mercury Retro Timeline:
1. Mercury Retrograde begins to creep in, unofficially, on December 1, 2016
2. Things get really intense from December 15 – 27, 2016
3. Mercury Retrograde “For Reals” December 18, 2016 at 15 degrees Capricorn
4. Things get intense again from January 1 – 9, 2017
5. Mercury goes Direct on January 7, 2017
6. We’re totally out of the woods by January 17, 2017
There’s a Full Moon in Gemini on December 13, 2016. The Gemini Vibration will be full of energy and potentially fun. Just try to keep track of yourself and avoid getting scattered. As the Full Moon begins to rise it will make an opposition to Saturn, bringing to light emotional pain that requires healing.
Winter Solstice for the Northern Hemisphere falls on December 21, 2016 and the Sun will enter the Sign of Capricorn at 2:44 am Pacific Time. It will be the shortest Day and longest Night of the Year.
Symbolically, this time of year is about self-reflection, karmic lessons, giving back, and tying off loose ends. 2016 is a “9” year in Numerology, which emphasizes the ending of a major spiritual cycle, both personally, and for humankind. 2017 will be a “1” year, representing “new, uncharted territory” and exploration. People will not want to be passive about their views during a “1” cycle, that’s for sure!
The Moon falls in the 10 th House (in Washington D.C.) on Winter Solstice, squaring the Sun in Capricorn, spotlighting tensions between the needs of the people and the actions of those in power.
There’s a New Moon at 7 degrees Capricorn on December 28, 2016 will have an odd twist to it, as unpredictable Uranus goes direct the very next day. Expect the unexpected. It will be easier to make necessary changes in the months ahead.
Mars goes into Pisces on December 19 and will line up with Neptune in Pisces at the very end of December. Please take special precautions on New Year’s Eve, as Mars/Neptune energy can prompt people to poor judgment and “spacey” behavior. Drive defensively, take a cab, or have your New Year’s party at home!
Opportunity Days: December 2, 11, 12, 15, 30, 31
