2019 starts with a significant Solar Eclipse in Capricorn. The New Moon at 15 degrees Capricorn falls on January 5, 2019, at 5:38 pm PST. Eclipses are always provocative, but this one is power-packed, with Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn on either side of the Sun/Moon duo. Eclipses tend to shake us up and wake us up. Things that were obscured are often revealed. Problems become more obvious, spurring us on to necessary changes. Things reach a “tipping point.” They come in pairs, so there will be a Lunar eclipse this month on the Full Moon on January 20, 2019. Suffice it to say, this month will not be boring! There may be some significant earthquake activity around January 5, possibly in California.
The first eclipse of 2019 is deeply linked to what I call the Saturn/Pluto “Capricorn Factor.” Current events are a precursor of what lies ahead in the months to come, both personally, and globally. Saturn and Pluto are heading towards an alignment of truly cosmic proportions in 2020. The previews to that movie will be playing all year during 2019. Saturn and Pluto get together like this periodically, but not frequently. The last time Saturn and Pluto were conjunct was in 1982, which brought us Reaganomics here in the US. And the tax cuts and bailouts from that period have had a profound and direct impact on the American economy of today. Many of the highly polarized attitudes separating the Republicans and Democrats at this time hark back to that period and are now in full bloom. In 2019 we will see important issues play out on the world stage, involving the Capricorn themes of money, authority, rules, laws, power, resources, and consequences.
Capricorn is about responsibility. Take a look at your reality and be willing to make necessary adjustments. This is not a good time to bury your head in the sand, or sit back and let someone else take care of things. Quite the opposite. As 2019 unfolds, if you see something in your life that isn’t working, face it and fix it. This is actually a good vibration for tackling difficult problems. Don’t just escape into your imagination. Look at your priorities in life and get down to business. Saturn and Pluto lining up in Capricorn is good for realists and pragmatists. For idealists, it might be a little rough, unless they are willing to jump into the fray and get really practical about their goals. If you have a dream, under this influence, you had better also have a good business plan to implement it. If you happen to be a Capricorn with a birthday in late December or the first couple of weeks of January, expect a particularly important year ahead.
Uranus goes direct on January 6, 2019, the day after the eclipse. Are you ready for something new? Uranus, the planet of change and revolution, tip-toed into Earth Sign Taurus last May, then retreated back into Aries in August. But now, Uranus will be on the move again, heading towards a 7-year stint in the sign of the Bull. Uranus will reach Taurus again in March, and its current change of direction will stimulate things that may have gotten side-lined this past summer. Uranus in Taurus is linked to major changes and potential problems involving the economy, land use, climate, and agriculture. Breakthroughs could occur in technology related to topics.
There’s a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at zero degrees Leo on January 20, 9:16 PST. This one will be visible in North and South America. Check your local time listings to see when. The Sun in Aquarius and the Moon in Leo will both square Uranus in late Aries, creating a powder keg of intensity! This could be an indication of earthquakes or some extreme weather. It could also shake things up in global politics and our personal lives. Leo energy is about being a ruler or monarch. Leo wants to maintain its dominance. Aquarius is the leader of the rebel army, ready to topple the existing regime. The challenge arises when a truce is necessary, as no one will feel like giving ground. But that, of course, is exactly what the lesson is all about! Find ways to compromise without sacrificing your own needs or integrity. Seek ways to bring new and innovative energy to the existing order of your life.
