June is a month of complex and dynamic change. Mercury Retrograde flips all the switches in the opposite direction. Add to that a Solar Eclipse and Summer Solstice, and that’s one spicy enchilada! Keep in mind, planetary changes are not a bad thing. Astrology is like a weather report. It gives us a chance to prepare for challenges, and make the best of opportunities. This month might get a bit sticky at times, but will be full of potential, nonetheless.
USA Pluto Return: Country’s have birth charts, just like people, and when the planets line up in a significant way, you can expect major changes in that nation’s destiny. America is going through such a period. I’ve talked about this several times in my articles over the past couple of years, but I think it bears repeating, as the destiny of the US affects every nation on earth. We are all witnessing this in real-time, which is as fascinating as it is scary.
The US is going through her first Pluto Return. This means that Pluto has gone all the way around the wheel of the zodiac and has returned to the same location it was in when the US was founded in 1776. This period is characterized by upheaval, struggle, and ultimately, transformation. America is having an identity crisis on a grand scale. This “test” will culminate in 2024, which, as fate would have it, is a Presidential Election year. At that time, we will see if the US is invested in becoming a better version of its former self, or if the shadow side will gain the upper hand. In this astrologer’s opinion, the writing is already on the wall. It’s going to be a hell of a battle, but our higher angels will win out. So, in the meantime, let goodness and truth be your guide and vote like it matters because it never mattered more.
On a less dramatic note, the US has a major benefit from Jupiter this year, to help clean up the damage from 2020. Jupiter is in alignment with America’s Aquarius Moon all year long. The Moon represents the people of the country and our true inner nature. This is the Symbol of America’s Soul Nature. Planetary transits to the Moon are often the most changeful. Jupiter’s alignment with the Moon symbolizes new hope for expansion, growth, opportunity, and optimism. This is a positive factor that will influence important events that will unfold over the next few years. Stay tuned, as I will give you my predictions every step of the way, as usual. Jupiter is also related to truth, law, and justice, which means this influence could lead to some ground-breaking change for the better. Let’s hope!
Mercury Retrograde: Pesky Mercury Retrograde will dominate the month of June until just after Summer Solstice. The planet of communication goes direct on June 22, 2021, so if you can hold off on really big plans and purchases until after that date, it could save you some hassle. Mercury Retro is well known to increase the strength of “Murphy’s Law,” which can manifest as anything from lost keys, to massive communication failures. Think twice about opening your mouth about personal slights or controversial topics. Check and double-check your appointments and travel itinerary. Avoid buying anything you can’t return. And just slow down a little. That helps a lot. One of the strange and sometimes beneficial side effects has to do with chance encounters with people or situations from the past. This often creates an opportunity for closure or problem solving that was previously unavailable. Since Mercury is Retrograde in the sign it rules, Gemini, you can bet that communication and technology will be scrambled. My best advice for these cycles is always this: don’t sweat the small stuff. This too shall pass.
There’s a New Moon/Solar Eclipse at 19° Sagittarius on June 10, 2021, at 3:53 am PDT. This is the second in a pair, the Total Lunar Eclipse having happened on June 26, 2021. Solar Eclipses mark periods of revelation and new beginnings. This one happens to have Donald Trump’s name all over it, as it falls near his birthday. I have no doubt there will become controversy surrounding him around this time or in the weeks that follow. This is not so hot for Teflon Don, as the eclipse will amplify other tense aspects already affecting his astrology chart. With Mercury Retrograde heavily involved in the mix, strange secrets may be revealed. This is a drama-filled eclipse, so make sure to take a chill pill if you feel your cheese starting to slip off your cracker. Some will not be able to help themselves, so be patient with others and try to help those who are feeling unhinged. Even the most challenging planetary events represent an opportunity. Use this one for magic and intention setting related to gaining wisdom and knowledge and seeing past falsehood.
Summer Solstice falls on June 20, 2021, at 11:41 pm PDT. Of course, this is Winter Solstice for my friends in the Southern Hemisphere. Summer begins, and the Sun goes into the Sign of Cancer, bringing our emotional reality into strong focus, including issues around food, safety, and family. The energy of abundance, light, beauty, and positivity has reached a zenith. As it has throughout history, the solstice continues to be marked by wildly festive celebrations and feasts, with nearly every culture above the Equator finding its own unique way to observe this auspicious and joyful moment. Hence, this is the perfect day to do rituals, have parties, or both. Join in with the spirit of people all over the world who will be celebrating.
There’s a Full Moon at 03° Capricorn on June 24, 2021, at 11:40 am PDT. Although the Capricorn Full Moon tends to bring about more somber and serious emotions, the Sun in Cancer will trine Jupiter in Pisces, adding a healing balm to old wounds. Magic and intention setting geared toward balancing your personal needs with outer world responsibilities will be in line with this Moon’s energy.
