May offers us a chance to reassess important matters with 3 retrogrades in a row. Before you decide that sounds like a bad thing, let me break it down for you. It’s actually an opportunity to tune in to what is truly important in your life so you can get things on the right track. With everything that’s going on in the world right now, nobody wants to waste time doing things that aren’t going anywhere. The retrograde planets will show you, if you are willing to look, where you should be putting your efforts to ensure the best possible outcome. People often forget that these retrograde cycles are a chance to DO IT BETTER!
Astrology and Covid-19: I think it’s safe to say that Covid-19 is a major factor in the big 2020 Wake-Up call humanity got from Saturn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn this past January. During the upcoming planetary retrogrades I believe we will be able to uncover many things about the virus that we either missed or misunderstood initially. In this way, the “review session” that’s starting in May will lead to important breakthroughs. What we learn will likely pave the way for a new and far more effective approach to dealing with pandemics in the future. Let’s put our group energy into supporting the most positive outcome for all concerned.
Saturn goes Retrograde on May 10, 2020 at 01° Aquarius. Saturn, the Lord of Karma, has been a real headliner this year, bringing in the Reality Check of the Century (and then some) with its fateful lineup with Pluto this past January. The ringed planet moved into visionary Aquarius in March, letting us know that we need to embrace a completely different way of doing things. Saturn Retrograde remains in Aquarius until July, when it ventures back into the sign of Capricorn for a bit, and then turns direct in September 2020. This also brings Saturn back toward Pluto for a while, reminding us that we must remain in problem solving mode so we don’t backslide into complacency. This is a chance to debug your plans and clarify your goals, rather than just waiting until things change on their own. Saturn’s retrograde opens the door to “getting it right” and straightening out things that have gone haywire. Positive ways to work with Saturn Retrograde include: editing out unwanted material, lightening your load, reviewing the validity of your plans, making sure your goals are realistic, releasing old fears, removing obstacles, redefining your mission, focusing on priorities, and freeing yourself from old patterns.
Venus goes Retrograde on May 12, 2020 at 21° Gemini. Venus, the planet associated with Love and Money, goes retrograde every 18 months for a period of around 40 days. Standard astrological advice states this is not the greatest time to get married. So, maybe wait until after June 24? I’m just saying. Existing relationships can also go through more challenges than normal, so choose your battles. Since it’s Gemini energy, communication about feelings will be the main issue. It’s also a time period of introspection about past loves. Ex-lovers have a way of reaching out during these periods, which can be confusing. Usually, it’s not a sign you should get back together, but a chance to get some closure. The Gemini factor could make this an excellent time for creative writing, both personally or professionally. Of course, since Venus is on the grumpy side when retrograde, money can be a touchy subject, so err on the side of caution with major financial decisions. This Venus Retrograde lines up closely with Donald Trump’s Sun in Gemini, suggesting conflict regarding his popularity. Venus Retro also lines up exactly with the USA’s natal Mars, indicating major shifts and changes with allies and partners.
Jupiter goes Retrograde on May 14 at 27° Capricorn. This cycle will last through September 12, 2020. Jupiter Retrograde allows us to revise our plans and reimagine our possibilities. Since it’s Capricorn, you know it’s going to be about practical matters. But it is also about how to use the wisdom from the past to create a more enlightened path to the future. The last time Jupiter was retrograde in Capricorn was during 2008, which corresponded with a major economic crisis. I’m not saying it has to be a repeat of that time period, but it certainly has its similarities. That being said, think back to what you learned back then and apply it to what you see before you. Be realistic and proactive. And remember my words, this is a chance to do it better, not just a repeat the same pattern. Positive interactions between Jupiter and Pluto in April, June, and November this year add much-needed optimism to a serious situation. There are other positive factors during 2020 that were not present in 2008, but caution and sobriety is still advisable about money and resources.
There’s a Full Moon at 17° Scorpio on May 7, 2020. The Sun in physical, creative, abundant Taurus stands across from the shamanic, transformational Scorpio Moon. Major insights about important relationships will come forth. Positive aspects to mystical Neptune in Pisces add a powerful healing dimension to this moon. This is the Flower Moon. The Flower is an incredibly meaningful symbol, denoting the life force, sexuality, and creative power. Use the immense potency of the Scorpio Full Moon to purge negativity and affirm LIFE. Scorpio opens the doorway to hidden worlds and the spirit realm. Use this opportunity to access knowledge from the “other side.” In my experience, the Scorpio Full Moon is nothing short of profound in terms of accessing guidance. Ask and the door will be opened. Seek and you shall find.
The Sun enters Air Sign Gemini on May 20, 2020. Air Sign Gemini quickens the pace and opens up new ideas and options. Just make sure to stay focused to make the best of this shift.
There’s a New Moon at 02° Gemini on March 22, 2020. The New Moon is a time to reset the game plan for the month ahead. Gemini relates to thinking, learning, and communicating. Use the New Moon to open up your mind to information that will help you with your goals. The Sun and Moon in Gemini square off with Mars in Pisces, bringing about ego conflicts and disagreements. Don’t waste your energy on pointless disputes. You will be better served by affirming mental clarity and inspired thinking.
Opportunity Days: May 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 23, 24, 27, 30, and 31
