Ryan Murphy wants to push anti-LGBTQ pols out of office

Ryan Murphy

Ryan Murphy, one of the biggest television producers, has had enough of anti-LGBTQ politicians and wants them out.

Murphy– the creator of “Glee” as well as “American Horror Story” and the groundbreaking transgender FX series “Pose”– made this promise when he received the Hero Award at the 2018 TrevorLIVE in Los Angeles.

Ryan Murphy draws the line

Speaking during the event last December 3 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, Murphy promised that he will set up a multi-million dollar initiative by 2020 to kick out anti-LGBTQ conservatives through the power of the vote.

Murphy noted that during the 2018 midterm elections: “One after one, anti-LGBTQ candidates who made hate speech and ideology part of their legacy fell away.”

“Over 20 anti-LGBTQ right-wing politicians and their horrifying views were gone in a day– and they were replaced by allies,” he said.

Because of this, he wants the “homophobes, the trans naysayers and the small restricted and dangerous minds who are causing so many young people to needlessly hate themselves and doubt themselves” out.

“I want these hateful and wrong politicians to go, and stop polluting our moral and ethical ether,” he declared.

This organization, which he said will have corporate sponsorship, will be called “Pose Gives Back” in reference to his latest television project.

Currently, “Pose” has more transgender series regulars than any other TV show in history.

Ryan Murphy wants your votes

Murphy said they’ll raise votes needed to force out anti-LGBTQ politicians like GOP Senators Mike Lee of Utah, Susan Collins of Maine, Lindsay Graham of South Carolina, as well as Rep. Steve King of Iowa.

“Senate and congressional candidates who think they can get votes hurting and discriminating against us– well, we can get votes too,” he said, adding that this group will support around 20 challengers against these politicians.

“We are going to send a message which says you cannot make discrimination against us a political virtue anymore,” he warned.

“You cannot keep killing our vulnerable young people by promoting and nationalizing your rural, close-minded anti-constitutional viewpoints,” he said.

Lastly, he said he will be donating US$50,000 donation to The Trevor Project during the event.

The Trevor Project honored Murphy and the cast of “Pose” with the Hero Award for their work in furthering LGBTQ representation in TV.

As an organization dedicated to suicide prevention, especially among LGBTQ youth, the Trevor Project raised US$1.5 million by the end of the night.
