Lesbian News’ favorite singer Sweet Baby J’ai is taking her Women in Jazz All-Stars to the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Renberg Theater for a night of sweet, sweet music.
The award-winning singer/songwriter/ producer/ actress– together with a world-class ensemble of musicians– will be unloading an evening of jazz, blues, and R&B on Saturday, February 10 at 8 pm.
Sweet Baby J’ai: Multitalented
Most of us know Sweet Baby J’ai (pronounced as Jay) in one of her many roles as singer or actress or even as the Artistic Director of the Palm Springs Women’s Jazz Festival.
But the fact is, she’s all all of that. That’s how multi-faceted she is.
She’s toured the world, headlining concerts and festivals from New York to Moscow, Paris, Tokyo, and Jakarta.
While she’s been described by critics as both a jazz singer and blues singer, she’s well known for both embracing and expanding jazz tradition as a versatile singer/songwriter “storyteller.”
As of present, she’s won three Bravo “Entertainer of the Year” Awards, two Blues and Soul Magazine “Best Jazz Vocal Performance” awards, and garnered three nominations for Jazz Now Awards for “Best Vocal Jazz.”
She’s also won LA Women Theater Project and ETI “Best Actress in a Leading Role” award, as well as recently honored as a Living Jazz Legend by the Los Angeles City Council.
Sweet Baby J’ai and the Women of Jazz
For the Women in Jazz All-Stars, Sweet Baby J’ai brings her wealth of experience and focus, a new perspective, and her drive and vision to help people appreciate and understand the contribution of women of jazz.
This tribute to women in American music will blend jazz with blues, pop, funk, Latin, and soul while also celebrating jazz in all its forms.
General admission tickets are US$25, Meanwhile, VIP tickets at at US$50, which offers preferred seating, one of J’ai’s acclaimed CDs, and a post-performance reception with J’ai herself.

The net proceeds from ticket sales will go to support the programs and services of the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Renberg Theatre is located at 1125 N. McCadden Place in Hollywood, just one block east of Highland and just north of Santa Monica Boulevard.
