What to expect at the Dinah Shore Weekend

We’ve already talked about who’s showing up at the Dinah Shore Weekend, an epic world-renowned five-day weekend event in Palm Springs, California on March 30 to April 3.

But there’s a whole lot more you can expect at the biggest lesbian event ever.

It’s Showtime at The Dinah

First of all, Club Skirts– in association with Showtime– will be presenting one of the Dinah Shore Weekend’s signature events: Hot as L.

This event will feature popular stars of Showtime’s lesbian drama series The L Word and the reality TV show The Real L Word. These include Elizabeth Keener, Clementine Ford, and Tracy Reyerson.

Showtime’s participation in the Dinah is especially welcome, given their support of the LGBT community with TV programs like The L Word and The Real L Word.

“Showtime has been a great friend to the lesbian community and to The Dinah. We celebrate Showtime’s legacy of promoting LGBT visibility and proudly welcome them once again as a premiere sponsor of The Dinah,” said Mariah Hanson, founder & producer of The Dinah.

The Dinah welcomes Big Boo

Another guest that will be appearing at the Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend is Lea DeLaria (or Big Boo), inmate at Netflix’s original hit series Orange is the New Black. DeLaria will be showing a special night of comedy and music at the Dinah.

DeLaria is a comedian, actress, and jazz musician. She was the first openly gay comic to perform on American television, declaring it in 1993 on Arsenio Hall’s late-night talk show. She’s also released a jazz album, House of David: delaria+bowie=jazz.

“Lea is one of a kind. The first time I worked with her, I was just a young promoter. Here was this LGBT pioneer, this hot butch, a real comic genius and I was in awe. That was almost 20 years ago,” Hanson said.

“The only thing that has changed is that she’s an even hotter butch now than she was then and her genius knows no bounds. I’m happy to be working with her again and feel confident her singular brand of comedy will jingle some body piercings that evening,” she added.

But wait, there’s more! The Dinah will also be held at the Hilton Hotel, the PS Convention Center, and the Zeldaz Nightclub to spread the grand celebration of 26 years.

Aside from DeLaria, Elle King, and DJ Samanthan Ronson, Orange is the New Black star/DJ Taryn Manning will also be there together with The L Word star Kate Moenning and UH HUH HER’s lead signer Camila Grey as The X-Names.

Moreover, model Madison Paige and rapper Angel Haze are on the guest list with pop newcomer JoLivi and the all-female power pop/punk band and The Real L Word Season 3 cast members, Hunter Valentine.

THe band, with founding members Kiyomi McCloskey and Laura Petracca, as well as touring members Leanne Bowes and Lisa Bianco, will perform their farewell show on their scheduled last stop.

“We have put together the most exciting Dinah line up ever. If I could only pick one Dinah to attend, it would be this year. I’m really happy how things came together. Everyone we asked said yes, and as a result we have the most star-studded, talented Dinah ever!” Hanson said on this year’s events at The Dinah.
