3 for the Dinah Shore Weekend 2017
It’s that time of the year when lesbians can gather and celebrate without a care at the Dinah Shore Weekend 2017 in Palm Springs!
What’s more, there will be three special guests (among others) hitting the stage for the event: DJ Keala Kennelly, Lady Cultura, and Lizzo!
Running from March 29 to April 2, the Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend is the biggest lesbian event in the world. What’s more, this year’s celebration will mark trailblazing women who achieved historic first.
“Now more than ever, it is enormously important to celebrate and raise the visibility of women breaking glass ceilings especially within our own community because we need to be reminded that we are strong, capable, united and powerful in a time when our voices, especially spoken in unity, are needed more than ever before,” said the Dinah founder and producer Mariah Hanson.
Dinah Shore Weekend: DJ Keala Kennelly
One of the headliners for the event is world surf champion-turned-DJ Keala Kennelly.
Aside from winning the first women’s big wave contest at the Nelscott Big Wave Classic in 2010, Keala consistently ranked in the ASP World Championship Tour top 10 for a decade.
She then took a break to pursue a career as a DJ, playing for both international and domestic party venues. She likewise once opened for Snoop Dogg at the Rain Night Club in Las Vegas.
Dinah Shore Weekend: Lady Cultura
Another performer for the event is latin hip hop artist Lady Cultura, who’ll be taking a detour from her tour with superstar Ariana Grande for an exclusive one-night only live performance.
First breaking into the music scene in 2012, she’s been a choreographer for Justin Bieber, French rapper Stromae, and now Ariana Grande.
She’ll be finishing her four-song EP to be released this year, and is known for her music mix of Reggaeton, House, and Vogue.
Dinah Shore Weekend: Lizzo
Proclaimed by Vibe Magazine as the “new wave of feminism and girl power”, Lizzo is a rapper, gospel-singer, wordsmith, and classically-trained flutist.
The rapper/vocalist has also performed before audiences in London, Paris, New York, and her hometown of Minneapolis.
Currently on her Coconut Oil tour, she’ll stop by Palm Springs for an exclusive one-night only live performance as well.
“Lizzo joins The Dinah 2017 lineup as the perfect example of a powerful woman defining her career her way, on her terms. We celebrate her and all women inspired by her,” said Hanson.
