The Aquarian Dragon Unleashed: As a student of history, I’ve never had to look far to find evidence that human beings haven’t changed much in certain regards. Sure, we’ve made all sorts of progress. Our over-all life expectancy is far beyond what it was, even with all the Big Macs and our sedentary habits. 100 years ago, we were lucky to make it to 53! Now it’s around 78. But as far as our attitudes, strengths, faults, and foibles, we’re really not that different. Psychologically, and emotionally, we are fairly predictable. The optimist in me truly hopes we’ve evolved more than that. The realist in me sees copious signs on a daily basis that tell me we have not. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t aspire towards it!

Although we might not be all that different, the things we have set in motion are quite another story. The Industrial Revolution in the late 1700’s fueled globalization in a way that has changed almost every aspect of life on earth. Developments in AI, the Digital Revolution of the 80’s, and the Internet in the 90’s further altered the trajectory of our destiny.

All of that looks pretty groovy in a way, if you feel you are living the good life and you love having your cell phone wired to your head. I, for one, thank the Universe for the toilet, a hot shower, and Starbucks on a daily basis. But in some ways, we have unleashed a beast, and are too hubristic to realize we may not have the skills to tame it.

2020 was touted by many astrologers and spiritual types as The Great Wake UP Call. I too, made predictions that 2020 would be a year like no other. But did we really wake up to anything? Or are we just doing what humans do, blazing ahead, come hell or high water. I guess we’ll see. But the Genie is not going to get back in the bottle. And the Dragon, or Shadow Side of the Aquarian Age, has sprouted wings and has tripled in size. Can we humans step it up and get a handle on this? Can we tame our Dragon and make friends with the crazy Genie? I hope so. But it is utterly and entirely up to us. And on the most basic, seminal, and potent level, it is up to You and Me. No pressure, lol. But a lot is riding on us.

So, what do we do about all this? We can take responsibility. Expand our consciousness. Educate ourselves. Increase our ability to use logic, and deductive reasoning. Go beyond prejudicial thinking. Go beyond taking things at face value. Learn about the world and research things on our own, not on Youtube. Look at both sides of current events. Learn to detect propaganda and false equivalency. Learn to recognize the allure and sway of negative influencers. Know that there are people out there who are paid to create discord by sowing misinformation. We all think we can recognize a wolf in sheep’s clothing, but can we, really? Practice putting ourselves in someone else’s shoes, the ultimate Aquarian standard. Replace fear with knowledge. We can be proactive, rather than reactive. And we can promote goodness. A tall order, for sure, but worth more than gold.

Sometimes, I catch myself wishing that aliens would attempt to invade earth, just so we might have a shot at worldwide unity. Honestly, I’m not even sure that would do it! So how about we start sending out ripples in the pond to find unity voluntarily. Why not come together because we want to, not because we have been forced into a corner. We most definitely can overcome present challenges. And the quickest way to do it is, TOGETHER. 2022 will be here sooner than you think. And it’s looking good in many ways. Let’s visualize the best 2022 we can. Be present, and let’s look ahead to creating beauty, health, and prosperity for all.

Get Your Groove On: Virgo is all about getting down to business. School has started, summer is waning, and there are lots of things to attend to. And you’ll want to do just that! Mercury, the planet of communication, will be going Retrograde at month’s end, so it’s time to get the show on the road! If you have something important to do, use the first two and a half weeks of September to hit it hard. This is also the month we will have a seasonal change, with Fall Equinox on the way. Tie up loose ends from the previous 3 months wherever possible. Virgo is strongly related to health, which also means it’s a good time to address any physical concerns you might have, and check in to see what condition your condition is in.

Saturn Square Uranus: This uncomfortable planetary tango is still the name of the 2021 game. It’s the proverbial “one step forward, two steps back.” The main problem is the goalposts keep moving. The trick is to continue to flow around obstacles while keeping your desires intact. Flexibility is an asset. If you can’t have exactly what you want right now, give yourself options. Be willing to change your stance as new information arises. This transit is characterized by a certain amount of tension and discomfort. Cultivate the ability to adapt. Turn frustration into initiative. The pattern breaks up and changes right at the end of the year, so the end is in sight! And don’t forget, it’s just energy. The Universe is not out to get us. The biggest problem we humans have is ourselves. You absolutely can use this energy to create something amazing. Embracing this concept becomes even more powerful when we do it collectively! These planetary cycles always lead to great advancements, although often hard-won.

The areas of conflict and breakthroughs are related to the following themes:

1. Saturn: Rulers, authorities, structure, order, laws, limitations, burdens, borders, and responsibilities.

2. Aquarius: Humanitarian concerns, equality, equanimity, diversity, science, communication, The Internet, societal vs individual needs, and freedom.

3. Uranus: Change, revolution, sudden upheaval, unexpected events, breakthroughs, disruption, and revelations.

4. Taurus: Earth and climate changes, resources, money, currency, and the physical body.

There’s a New Moon at 14° Virgo on September 6, 2021, at 5:51 PM, PDT. Each New Moon represents a beginning of a new cycle, with its own unique energy stamp. This one is strongly related to the Saturn/Uranus cycle I just mentioned, in a helpful way! Yay! The Sun and Moon will make an exact Trine, or harmonious link, with Uranus in Taurus. This could lead to productive activity and creative and unique solutions to ongoing problems. New resources and opportunities will surface. Mars in Virgo will make a Trine to Pluto in Capricorn, empowering those seeking to conquer big challenges. All of this is Earth Sign energy, so it’s boots-on-the-ground, practical, and useful. The one funky element in the mix is Mars in Virgo opposing Neptune in Pisces. People will misread situations and will be ready to fight over it, which is never good. It is also related to criminal acts, sneak attacks, and acts of sabotage. The good news is, it doesn’t last very long. In general, the good vibes of this moon outweigh the bad, which is always nice. Use the energy of this New Moon to charge up intentions and magic related to healing and career. This is a fantastic time to connect to nature spirits, ancestral guides, and sacred power spots in the outdoors.

There’s a Full Moon at 28° Pisces on September 20, 2021, at 4:54 PM PDT. Full Moons always represent the fulfillment and dispersion of accumulated energy from the previous weeks. This Moon is in the last degrees of the last sign of the zodiac, bringing to mind “eleventh hour” solutions to problems that have been brewing for a long time. The Virgo Sun suggests the need for practical, real-world solutions, while the Pisces Full Moon reminds us that our feelings cannot be denied. The Virgo/Pisces axis is directly related to health, humanitarian concerns, and fixing things that are broken. The Sun in Virgo will align with warrior planet Mars in Libra, making people both motivated and aggravated, so choose your path and choose your battles.

Fall Equinox occurs on September 22, 2021 at 12:20 PM PDT. Autumn begins in the Northern Hemisphere and the days begin to grow shorter. The Sun goes into Air Sign Libra and a new cycle begins. Use the Libra vibes to create cooperation and bring balance and harmony to your personal and profession connections. Fall Equinox represents the harvest; a time when we reap what we have sown. There will be celebrations and rituals all over the world on this day, as we honor our ancient heritage and recognize the turning of the great wheel of the seasons. Gratitude is the central theme. Take stock of all of the gifts and benefits you created and have been given, and find ways to share and give back if you are able. If you are in need, be open to receive. Fall Equinox Chart: The horoscope for the equinox will set the tone for the whole 3 month cycle, so it’s important to recognize prominent planetary connections on this day. And there are quite a few! The Sun in peace-loving Libra lines up with warrior planet Mars. This is a highly energizing combo but can get people very riled up as well. Traditionally, Mars is not thought to function strongly in Libra, but it depends what you are using it for. My suggestion is to use it to get things moving forward in the spirit of compromise. The Sun/Mars pairing will make a harmonious trine to task-master Saturn in Aquarius, opening up doorways to effective communicating and planning, particularly in business.

Mercury, the planet of communication, will be the star of the show. Already in its Retrograde Shadow, Mercury in Libra will oppose the Moon in Aries, pitting logic against feelings and creating lots of confusion about information being shared with the public. It will also create a positive trine to Jupiter Retrograde in Aquarius, helping us find ways to solve old problems and clear up past communication failures. Mercury will also form a tense square to powerhouse Pluto in Capricorn. This could definitely lead to communication failures, clashes and power struggles.

Sexy Venus in Scorpio is opposite unpredictable Uranus in Taurus, bringing the potential of break-ups, make-ups, and unexpected emotional thrills and chills. Some not-too-pretty secrets could be revealed under this influence. Suffice it to say, the Autumn cycle will not be dull. There may be a death of an important figure in the US around this time.

Mercury Retrograde, September 26, 2021 at 25° Libra: Mercury Retrograde often makes things more complicated, often related to technology, machines, cars, communication and travel. It’s always good to remember that it’s not “abnormal,” just different. We humans are very willful creatures and always want things to go as planned. Under Mercury Retrograde, things tend to go awry a little more oft than not. That being said, it doesn’t mean you can’t do anything or make plans. It just requires more patience than usual. One of the best Mercury Retrograde pieces of advice I’ve ever learned is, DON’T buy anything you can’t return! This is super important when purchasing automobiles and homes! Since this retrograde is in Libra, you can expect some relationship tension. The atmosphere will be rife with tiffs, tit for tat, and poor communication. Do your best to find common ground with others, even if they choose to be obstinate. And watch what you say and put into writing. If you aren’t sure, say nothing. Contracts and negotiations often stall under this particular influence, so if you have to engage thusly, be willing to compromise. And always have a “Plan B.”

The Mercury Retrograde Playlist:

1. Mercury Retrograde Shadow #1 starts on September 7, 2021: This is when things start slipping sideways. Get the big things off your “to do” list ASAP. This is just the preview, so remember, forewarned is forearmed.

2. Mercury Retrograde Storm # 1 starts on September 24, 2021 thru September 29, 2021: This is when you know 100% for sure that things are weird. Stay calm, and carry on. Mercury will turn retrograde right in the middle of this.

3. Mercury turns Retrograde on September 27, 2021. This is the day when it happens. Keep your wits about you. It can be stressful.

4. Mercury Retrograde Storm # 2 from October 16 thru October 21, 2021. This is the second “spin zone,” with Mercury turning direct right in the middle of it. Things can be chaotic as the energy shifts.

5. Mercury turns Direct on October 17, 2021 at 10:30 PM PDT: Things start to turn around. Give it a few days.

6. Mercury Retrograde Shadow # 2 from October 21 2021 thru November 2, 2021: This is just the “hangover” phase, and usually isn’t a really big deal. This is when we can start to make sense of what happened during the previous weeks, and make effort to fix things that got messed up.
