The Trevor Project gains new support for Pride Month

A number of brands have banded with The Trevor Project this Pride Month provide support to vulnerable members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death among ages 10-34, and these statistics are even higher among LGBTQ+ youth, with queer youth being four times more likely to attempt suicide compared to their peers.

lululemon to support suicide prevention among LGBTQ+ youth

lululemon athletica inc., a technical athletic apparel and footwear company, has partnered not only with The Trevor Project, but also the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

NAMI is the largest grassroots mental health organization in the US for improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness.

Under the partnership, lululemon has committed a total investment of US$3M over the past two years in support of suicide prevention efforts among LGBTQ+ youth.

“At lululemon, our purpose is to elevate human potential by helping people feel their best, which includes removing barriers to equity so that everyone has a sense of belonging,” said Nikki Neuburger, their Chief Brand Officer.

Other brands show their rainbow support on Pride Month

Meanwhile, H&M launched a “My Chosen Family” global campaign in support of the LGBT+ community and Pride, and will also be matching donations starting June 15th to The Trevor Project up to US$150,000.

BoxyCharm, a makeup box subscription service, also launched a campaign with The Trevor Project, opening a “Be Proud Be You Shop” for Pride Month that will donate 10% of all sales to The Trevor Project.

IPSY, a Beauty for All Industries brand, also announced its partnership with The Trevor Project for Pride Month 2022.

As part of this partnership, IPSY will be featuring an exclusive, limited-time “Free to Be” bundle comprised of LGBTQ+-owned and -friendly brands.

These include KimChi Chic Beauty, Patrick Ta Beauty, MAC Cosmetics, and Formula Z Cosmetics. 50% of total sales will be going to the organization, with a minimum donation of $25’000.

Drag Queens partner with The Trevor Project and Hims & Hers

Drag stars Violet Chachki and Gottmik will also be partnering with The Trevor Project, along with Hims & Hers Health, Inc., a telehealth platform for wellness and personal care products.

This will be done with their “No Gorge” Pride Tour for 2022, which will be running through July 14. Through this partnership, Hims & Hers will be providing access to free therapy services through their platform.

“We couldn’t be happier to be breaking down stigmas with Hims & Hers. For myself and many others out there, mental health is a lifelong opportunity of improvement and it isn’t easy to talk about,” said Gottmik.

“Historically there’s been so much shame around mental health and it’s a privilege to join forces with a brand that is combating this by encouraging everyone to be loud and proud about caring for themselves, and empowering people to feel their best,” Gottmik added.

“Mental health issues should be talked about, and care and treatment shouldn’t be difficult.”
